Our Advisory Group

The role of the Advisory Group members is to provide independent oversight and strategic direction to the AODP. The Group will also inform the governance of the AODP and provide a formal process of review.

The Advisory Group members will be involved in the development of the AODP by providing a valuable insight into related topics, feedback on and development of the survey process, direction and advice on report structure, strategic thoughts on future surveys and assessments of successes and challenges.

Each member can be an individual or a representative of an organisation or a network of organisations. Membership will be reviewed every 12 months.

Mandy Kirby

Director, UN Principles for Responsible Investment

As Director of Reporting, Assessment and Accountability at PRI, Mandy ensures that PRI investor and service provider signatories in more than 50 countries are able to effectively report on their use of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors in their investment decision making and research and advisory. In 2018, the PRI enabled investors to report in line with the recommendations  of the FSB Taskforce on Climate-Related Financial Disclosure.

Mandy liaises with global reporting and standard-setting bodies to support and improve the quality of transparency and disclosure. Previously, as Associate Director at the Maplecroft consultancy, she led research projects for clients in developed and emerging markets, advising on risk management and sustainability issues.

Robert G. Eccles

Visiting Professor of Management Practice at the Said Business School, University of Oxford

Robert Eccles is a leading authority on the integration of environmental, social, and governance factors (ESG) in resource allocation decisions by companies and investors. He is also the world’s foremost academic expert on integrated reporting. Currently, Eccles is a Visiting Professor of Management Practice at the Said Business School, University of Oxford, where he is helping them start the Oxford Said Corporate Accounting and Reporting (OSCAR) Programme and conducting a joint research project with the Ford Foundation on creating more sustainable capital markets. Eccles has been a Visiting Lecturer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Sloan School of Management and is a Berkeley Social Impact Fellow at the Haas School of Business, University of California Berkeley. He was a Professor at Harvard Business School and received tenure in 1989.

Eccles is a member of the Advisory Board for JANA Partners’ Impact Investing Fund. He is on the board of the Mistra Center for Sustainable Markets at the Stockholm School of Economics, was the founding Chairman of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board, and was one of the founders of the International Integrated Reporting Council. In 2011, Dr. Eccles was selected as one of the Top 100 Thought Leaders in Trustworthy Business Behavior – 2012 for his extensive, positive contribution to building trust in business. In 2013, he was named the first non-accountant Honorary Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), one of only nine since 1999.

Dr. Eccles received an S.B. in Mathematics and an S.B. in Humanities and Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an A.M. and Ph.D. in Sociology from Harvard University. He currently resides in Lexington, MA with his wife Anne Laurin Eccles and their three dogs Basil, Ivy, and Rowan. His main outside activity is weightlifting where he is quite good at the deadlift, credible at the squat, and pathetic at the bench press.

Rudy Verstappen

Dutch Association of Investors for Sustainable Development (VBDO)

Rudy is a Senior Project Manager Responsible Investment at the Dutch Association of Investors for Sustainable Development (VBDO). His main focus is the responsible investment benchmarks for institutional investors and he has extensive experience in company and investor engagement. Furthermore, he focuses on topics such as fiscal transparency and natural capital. Rudy worked previously at the ESG research department of Actiam. Rudy has a MSc in Business Studies from the University of Amsterdam.

Sebastien Godinot

Head of the Sustainable Finance Unit, WWF European Policy Office

Sebastien Godinot is economist and head of the Sustainable Finance Unit in the WWF European Policy Office. He has been working on financial issues for more than fifteen years including policies of private banks, institutional investors and related EU financial policies and regulations. He is coordinating a WWF programme encouraging the 100 largest European institutional investors to assess and disclose the climate alignment of their portfolio and align it with the Paris Agreement. In the EU High Level Expert group on sustainable finance commissioned by the European Commission in 2017, he was sherpa of Pascal Canfin, the WWF representative.

Valborg Lie

Director of Borg Consulting

Valborg Lie is Director of Borg Consulting, a sustainable investment advisory firm facilitating dialogue on RI practices and ESG integration along the investment chain. Valborg was head of RI at the Norwegian GPFG from 2005 – 2013, overseeing development and implementation of RI policies and activities. As a consultant, Valborg dedicates time to develop and leverage an extensive network of institutional investors and SWFs globally, to promote and build RI best practice. Valborg has a particular interest in regulatory initiatives defining good stewardship and good corporate governance.
